Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Doris Rivas-Brekke welcome Janine Wilburn of Touch.Nology, August 23
August 23, 2011
In 2005, Janine Wilburn co-founded and became the Chief Creative Officer of Touch.Nology Holdings LLC – a socially responsible, Communications Company committed to making a difference.
Touch-Nology manufactures patent-pending, Connection Kits and Products designed to bring Resiliency, connection, communication and healing to families in challenging situations.
Touch.Nology developed Kits to help Service Members and Military Families build Resiliency before, during and after deployment. The kits contain a number of different types of products—all designed to work together over time. To date, upwards of 170,000 Service Members and Military Families have received Kits and responded with very positive reviews. Hundreds and hundreds of heartfelt emails have poured in from Service Members in Iraq and Afghanistan and their Families here at home.
Janine’s first hand experience with the importance of resiliency inspired these products. She began creating them as she worked to recover from severe spinal injury, during which portions of her upper body, including her hands and arms were paralyzed. Janine used these tools on her personal path to recovery and still uses them everyday.
From early on in her career, Janine has been passionate about making a difference with people through caring, creativity and insight. Whether it was television and radio reporting for ABC in Madison, WI…hosting a radio show in Italy… authoring a book on sports families… starting the Family Achievement Center…marketing consulting in Bulgaria (for the U.S. Government) to help new businesses compete in the global marketplace… or lecturing, Janine has been connecting with people in special ways for years.
In the corporate world, she was recognized with a number of awards including: Gold & Bronze Lions from the Cannes Film Festival, a Clio, an EFFIE, an Addy and a HUGO. She also received acclaim as one of ten artists selected nationally to participate in the victim advocacy show at the Carrie Secrist Gallery. Her piece “Broken Lady” was published in the Chicago Reader. Janine is a working mixed media artist selling her work privately and at galleries across the country. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Darryl and son, Christian and is a regular volunteer at her son’s school. In her private time, she is an avid Iyengar yoga practitioner. Janine is enthusiastic about her newest products, which are designed to help teach children and teens to write. She looks forward to working with school systems across the country.

Military Mom Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck and Robin Boyd, and produced by Rick Swanson, welcomes Candace Sandy of Souls of My Sisters.
By Military Mom Talk Radio, Motherhood Incorporated
Two high school friends, and former Simon & Schuster employees felt an evolution in themselves Dawn marie Daniels and Candace Sandy and searched the shelves to find smart, helpful information that mirrored their lives as successful, upwardly mobile, women who still grappled with day-to-day issues. They turned to self-helps books and inspirational titles and felt motivated at first, but still noticed that their experience as Black women was not fully looked at or addressed by the literature on the bookshelves. “I noticed that a new approach was needed, one that would fit for today’s woman whether she worked in the boardroom or the classroom,” stated Dawn who launched the literary career of New York Times best-selling author Iyanla Vanzant.
Dawn and Candace felt compelled to publish these stories in Souls of My Sisters: Black Women Break Their Silence, Tell Their Stories, and Heal Their Spirits, a compilation of true life experiences of women of color. In Souls of My Sisters, women from all walks of life candidly reveal how they overcame challenges just like those faced by women every day. From Patti Labelle to Mary J. Blige to single moms and spiritual leaders, these diverse groups of women have bonded together in print, to discuss issues that have touched their lives. Ten years later, Souls of My Sisters continues to produce book tours, online resources, book clubs and a imprint Souls of My Sisters Books/Kensington Publishing Corp.
Candace Sandy is the President of Candace Sandy Communications, a multi media company and strategic cooperative targeting women. For ten years Candace Sandy has also served as the Communications Director for Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY) of the Sixth Congressional District, a member of the House Foreign Service and Financial Services Committees. In her capacity as Communications Director Sandy has managed both national and international media campaigns in countries that have included Africa, Canada, Caribbean, China, Colombia, Cuba, Great Britain, India, Israel, Malaysia, Peruand Venezuela. A frequent lecturer, Sandy is the former General Manager of New York University Radio Station WNYU 89.1 FM, 800 AM, and Channel 17. Check her out at www.soulsofmysisters.com.

Military Mom Talk Radio Hosted by Sandra Beck and Robin Boyd Honor Military Supporters on Memorial Day
May 30, 2011
Sandra Beck and Robin Boyd have prepared an encore presentation of past episodes of Military Mom Talk Radio in honor of Memorial Day. Highlights from four previous guests will be featured from the many wonderful people and organizations they have had in their past year on Toginet.
Featured on today’s show will be Betsy Beard, a surviving mom of SPC Bradley Beard, killed in action in Iraq, and is now the editor for the national quarterly TAPS Magazine, facilitates bereavement workshops, and has written a children’s book, Klinger, A Story of Honor and Hope. For more information, visit www.TAPS.org.
Tish Stropes joined Sandra and Robin to detail the Fisher House Foundation, a network of houses adjoining major military hospitals for families of loved ones who are ill or recovering. Families receive room and board, easy access to the hospital, a place for loved ones to leave the hospital for a short time to visit with family, and an environment with others experiencing similar situations. Please visit www.fisherhouse.org to learn more of their services and how you can help support their mission.
Melissa Seligman and Chris Piper visited Military Mom Talk Radio to talk about a children’s book they collaborated on titled A Heart Apart. The book offers military children a vehicle to express their feelings and emotions stemming from a family member being deployed. Melissa also authored a very hear-felt book titled The Day After He Left for Iraq. For details on both ladies, their mission, and their books, visit www.herwarhervoice.com. To order A Heart Apart, visit www.lifecaptured.com.
Andi Grant is the founder of Give2TheTroops®. Andi began the organization in 2002 when her husband, U.S Marine Sgt. Brian Grant was called for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The organization sends supplies to troops – anything from board games to golf clubs, exercise equipment or slushy machines. Discover how you can help support our troops by visiting www.give2thetroops.org.

The Real Cougar Woman is a 5-carat diamond with each of the 5-carats representing an essential facet of her life. The 5-carats are: health, beauty, relationships, finance and spirituality. Achieving clarity in all 5 carats insures she will shine just like a perfect-cut diamond.
The Real Cougar woman realizes that she, and she alone, is responsible for everything in her life. Just like an artist, she sits in front of a blank canvas every day and creates her reality.
Being a 5-carat diamond allows her to be:
- A woman who isn’t afraid to knock down walls and crash through glass ceilings.
- A woman who adores men but refuses to be defined by the age of the man she chooses to be with.
- A woman who goes inside herself for the answers.
- A woman who knows how to keep her body healthy, her beauty radiant and her spiritual reservoir full.
- A woman who puts financial freedom high on her priority list.
Every woman, whether she realizes it or not, has a Real Cougar just waiting to be unleashed. Living your life as a smart, sexy, independent woman is the best gift you can give yourself. So get over listening to what other people think you should do and start living the life you deserve. This is the time to let go of your preconceived notions about aging, about sexuality, about beauty, about relationships with money, and give yourself permission to explore all of your possibilities.
The Combat Cougar Bracelet™ designed for our service women by renowned New York City jewelry designer Patty Tobin. 22 genuine black and clear crystals at a special price of only $19.99.
