Motherhood Talk Radio welcomes Doris Rivas-Brekke, creator of Daily Dialogue with Doris and roving reporter for Military Mom Talk Radio and Motherhood Talk Radio.  Recently, as a reporter on her “News You Can Use” segment, Doris Rivas-Brekke has been reporting on such topics homeless veterans to the collecting coupon-craze.   On this week’s show, Doris Rivas-Brekke talks about a topic that is touching many American lives today; the issue of “home foreclosure”.  Doris talks about her personal experience with losing her home through foreclosure and how to get through this life changing experience with grace and hope.

Doris Rivas-Brekke is a new addition to the Military Mom Talk Radio (MMTR) group.  She is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where she worked as a mental health counselor.  She is also a former business owner, public relations and marketing consultant, a budding author and soon to be host of her own faith-based radio talk show.  Doris Rivas-Brekke earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Diego State University. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Doris has recently returned to San Diego after having lived many years in Los Angeles.

Doris has many passions, number one is growing roses.  She also loves to write and is working on her auto-biography about her life in the military in the 1970’s, her alcohol addiction and recovery and her new found Christian faith!  She also loves to work out and play with her two cats, Lucky and Coco Chanel and her two dogs, Lady Blackjack and the Princess of Sheba!

Ivy’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Arts in Dance Education as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from theUniversityofMaryland.  This eclectic combination of both art and the spoken word enhanced her skills to become a successful business woman .  Having spent time in sales and marketing she felt a natural progression was to her true passion, professional coaching.  She received her  certification through theInstituteofProfessional Empowerment Coaching, an accredited coach training school, recognized as such by the International Coaching Federation, the leading trade organization for professional coaching.

Janine’s first hand experience with the importance of resiliency inspired these products. She began creating them as she worked to recover from severe spinal injury, during which portions of her upper body, including her hands and arms were paralyzed.  Janine used these tools on her personal path to recovery and still uses them everyday.

From early on in her career, Janine has been passionate about making a difference with people through caring, creativity and insight. In the corporate world, she was recognized with a number of awards including: Gold & Bronze Lions from the Cannes Film Festival, a Clio, an EFFIE, an Addy and a HUGO. She also received acclaim as one of ten artists selected nationally to participate in the victim advocacy show at the Carrie Secrist Gallery.  Her piece “Broken Lady” was published in the Chicago Reader.  Janine is a working mixed media artist selling her work privately and at galleries across the country. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Darryl and son, Christian and is a regular volunteer at her son’s school.  In her private time, she is an avid Iyengar yoga practitioner. Janine is enthusiastic about her newest products, which are designed to help teach children and teens to write.  She looks forward to working with school systems across the country.
